The Maharashtra State Police Headquarters formerly known as the Royal Alfred Sailors' Home was designed by Frederick William Stevens. Restoration and upgradation of the building involved removal of various ad-hoc interventions and restoring the interior spaces back to original and yet equipped with state of the art technology. The view of the exterior façade from the street was also blocked and during the process of restoration the compound wall was redesigned to improve the visibility of this significant landmark building in Mumbai.
